Who Is Amitabh Bachchan?

In the 1980s, Amitabh Bachchan—an Indian actor, filmmaker, TV personality, and former politician—became well-known. His roles in Bollywood and Hindi movies have earned him a lot of recognition. He is known as the “Angry young man” of Hindi cinema because of his exceptional roles in movies such as Zanjeer and Deewaar. He has appeared in comedies and dramas in addition to action movies. Throughout his career, the actor has proven to be adaptable. This charismatic actor was able to bounce back from a number of career failures with outstanding performances in a number of popular movies.

The greatest honor bestowed to an Indian actor, he has four National Film Awards to his credit. The Indian government has bestowed upon him numerous accolades, such as the “Padma Bhushan,” “Padma Shri,” and “Padma Vibhushan,” in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the growth of the film industry. Among his most well-known movies are Amar Akbar Anthony, Sholay, Agneepath, Silsila, Lawaaris, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, and Satte Pe Satta. For other films, including Baghban, Black, Paa, and Sarkar, he has also received honors.

Early Life

Amitabh Bachchan, the ultimate ‘Shehenshah‘ of Bollywood, is a well-known figure in India and around the world. He was born in Allahabad, India, on October 11, 1942, to Teji and Harivansh Rai Bachchan. He went to Boys’ High School and Jnana Prabodhini in Allahabad before enrolling in Sherwood College in Nainital, where he majored in the arts. After that, he graduated from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, with a Bachelor of Science degree.

When Bachchan decided to leave, he had been employed in Calcutta for more than two years. He made the decision to move to Bombay and work in the film business. Young, talented performers were in high demand at the time, and the Indian film industry was expanding as well.

Career

Fortunately for him, Amitabh Bachchan made his acting debut in the film Saat Hindustani. He was ecstatic to have attracted the interest of filmmakers, and soon after, offers to star in movies began to come in. Following her role in the movie Zanjeer, Bachchan became well-known.

Between the 1970s and the 1980s, Amitabh Bachchan appeared in about a hundred films and collaborated with some of the most well-known directors in India, such as Prakash Mehra. Films like Naseeb, Jadugar, Coolie No 1, Sooryavansham, Sholay, Sharabi, and Laawaris showcased his stunning acting career.

He actively engages in resolving societal issues. His hosting of the television program “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” the Indian version of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” is another factor in his fame. Among his other monikers are Big B, Angry Young Man, Star of the Millennium, and Shahenshah of Bollywood.

Amitabh Bachchan Marriage

On June 3, 1973, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri exchanged vows. Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan are their two children. But before to his marriage, Amitabh Bachchan’s name was connected to three prominent Bollywood actresses. The relationship between Amitabh Bachchan and the late actress Parveen Babi was the subject of various rumors. Most people are also aware that Amitabh and Parveen Babi worked together on a number of successful movies, such as Namak Halal and Loving Akbar Anthony. In addition, even though Amitabh denied having anything to do with the well-known actress Zeenat Aman, his name was also associated with her.

This is not the end of the list yet. Rekha is the most beautiful and well-known actress in Bollywood films. It is also claimed that Amitabh was linked to her. Rumors of their marriage generated a lot of controversy, but the truth is that they never formally acknowledged their connection. Because of the rumors, even Jaya Bachchan, his wife, declined to collaborate with Rekha. Everything eventually calmed down, but it’s also impossible to deny that Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan were one of Bollywood’s most popular single couples. Despite ups and downs, Amitabh and his wife Jaya Bachchan are incredibly happy right now.

Amitabh as a Film Director

In the cinema industry, Amitabh Bachchan has held roles as both an actor and a filmmaker. The Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited was founded by Big B.

He was the director of the 1996 motion picture Tere Mere Sapne, which was a box office failure. He continued to direct many more films in spite of this setback.

Amitabh as a singer

Once, Amitabh Bachchan’s voice was considered too heavy for a radio job, and he was turned down. On the other hand, over time, his voice has continued to serve as a distinguishing feature. He has appeared in multiple movies and sung numerous songs. He has sung the well-known song “Rang Barse Bhige Chunar Wali,” which is still played on Holi occasions.

Brand Ambassador

Since he is regarded as one of the biggest Bollywood stars, every company wants him to represent them so that they stand out. As a result, Amitabh Bachchan has promoted a number of brands, including Cadbury, Tanishq Jewellers, ICICI Bank, Navratna Oil, and Maruti Suzuki cars. Additionally, he distributes free advertisements for Gujarat Tourism and Pulse Polio.

Political Career

In 1984, Indira Gandhi was assassinated. Rajiv Gandhi convinced Amitabh Bachchan to enter politics during this time and leave the film industry.

A growing number of people were drawn in by Bachchan’s fans’ excitement when he first started campaigning. In addition, the Election Commission acted impartially by directing Doordarshan to refrain from airing any Amitabh Bachchan movies while the Election Code of Conduct was in effect.

At that time, Bachchan defeated Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and a former member of the Congress, in the elections held in contravention of the ban.

After reaching a pinnacle in his career, Amitabh Bachchan quit politics due to the disastrous fallout from the Bofors scandal. It was at this point that he reconciled with Stardust’s MD, Nari Hira, and resolved the issue, ending the fifteen-year movie ban.

Even though Amitabh had lost his reputation as a “hero” in Bollywood, he was nevertheless successful there because of hits like Mohabbatein, Agneepath, Hum, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. However, his parts in these films were not as important as they were in the 1970s when he was the only angry young man.

Controversies

1. With the 1973 release of Zanjeer, Amitabh reached previously unheard-of levels of popularity. It’s said that as Amitabh gained notoriety, he started acting snobbishly toward other celebrities and people, treating them like second-class citizens. Several performers from that era discussed it, Kader Khan among them.
2. Though they starred in many successful films together, like Naseeb, Kala Patthar, Shaan, and Dostana, Shatrughan Sinha, and Amitabh Bachchan’s friendship was impulsive rather than solid. Amitabh made several attempts to make Shatrughan Sinha look bad. In multiple interviews and his memoirs, Shatrughan Sinha stated that Amitabh refused to see Big Stars with him. He therefore dropped Shatrughan Sinha from a number of projects.
3. Rekha, Amitabh Bachchan’s gorgeous co-star, was well-known. Despite Big B’s marriage to Jaya Bhaduri, their relationship with the family grew closer. Eventually, Jaya spoke with Rekha directly and warned Amitabh that they should never collaborate or have any sort of relationship again. Her choice was the only reason his marriage survived.
4. Amitabh Bachchan’s name was linked to the Bofors scandal due to his political career connections with the Gandhi family. After appearing in court on charges of being involved in the scandal, the actor received a dispensation and had his name cleared during the trial.
5. Amitabh Bachchan came under fire for serving a legal notice to Kumar Vishwas. When Vishwas used poems by Harivansh Rai Bachchan and uploaded it on YouTube during his address, he became irate. In response, Kumar sent Amitabh Rs 32 that he had obtained for that post on YouTube.
6. Sayali Bhagat, the former Miss India, accused Amitabh Bachchan of sexual assault on social media, citing a number of celebrities in her accusation. After Sayali’s account was hacked and it was later claimed on her behalf that she had not made the post, the actor filed a lawsuit.

“Charting monetisation policies could have been executed in a more aesthetically pleasing manner if highly accomplished World influencers were not categorized under 114Euro blue marks. Perhaps your brand and marketing team could create a new verification color that recognizes and does not charge the pioneers who made Twitter what it is today, such as Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and us. I hope you’ll take this feedback into account. I continue to be Celina Jaitly,” she added.
