Sri Lanka versus India Asia Cup 2023 Live Score and Highlights:

At the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, India defeated Sri Lanka by ten wickets thanks to a fantastic six-wicket spell bowled by Mohammed Siraj. India won its eighth Asia Cup, setting a new record. After captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and chose to bat, the Rohit Sharma-led team dismissed Sri Lanka for 50 runs thanks to Siraj’s 6 for 21 in 7 overs. In the history of ODI cricket, Siraj took his first five wickets in 16 balls, which is also the joint fastest pace in the sport. Before Siraj gained control and kept the opposition from settling in, Jasprit Bumrah delivered the opening punch. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan easily defeated India in 6.1 overs during the pitiful chase.

India vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup 2023 Final Match Highlights:

Records were broken as India defeated hosts Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the Asia Cup final to reclaim the championship after a five-year hiatus. When Sri Lanka batted first, they were bowled out for a pitiful 50 runs because of the incredible six-wicket haul of opener Mohammed Siraj. In response, India completed the task in 6.1 overs with ease. The records that were programmed during the match are shown here.

When Sri Lanka lost its fifth wicket (12 for 5), they scored their lowest-ever ODI against India.

With a score of 12 for 6, Lanka became the first ODI team with an ICC full member to reach the sixth wicket in the series. It was in this match when Siraj claimed his 50th ODI wicket, coming off of 1,002 deliveries—the second-fastest of any bowler in the competition. Ajantha Mendis holds the record with 847 balls.

The opening ten overs of the match saw India take six wickets, the highest for the team in the format to date. After Mendis, Siraj is the only bowler to reach six figures in an Asia Cup ODI. In this match, Lanka’s total score of 50 is the lowest in the format against India. It is also the lowest in any previous ODI final.

With six wickets for twenty-one, Siraj’s ODI record against Lanka is the greatest of any bowler. In the history of the ODI competition, this was only the second occasion that the bowlers took all ten wickets in a match. The second incident occurred in this tournament as well, when Pakistani seamers accomplished the feat in a group match that washed out against India. In the fewest overs of an ODI, Sri Lanka became the first full-member Asian team to be dismissed (15.2).

Siraj’s stats, second only to Anil Kumble’s 6 for 12 in the 1993 Hero Cup Final, are the best by any Indian pacer in an ODI final. Additionally, Siraj made cricket history by being the first Indian to take four wickets in an over. The least amount of balls of any bowler in an ODI, Siraj needed just 16 to take his fifth wicket of the match.

After Ashish Nehra, Siraj is the only player to reach six figures in an ODI against Sri Lanka. India has now won two ODI finals by ten wickets; the other was against Zimbabwe in Sharjah in 1998 (197 for 0). They are now the first team to do it. In addition to being the largest in an ODI final, it is also the largest ODI victory for the Indians in terms of balls left to spare (263).

Australia’s Josh Hazlewood dethroned India’s Mohammed Siraj from the top position in the most recent ICC rankings for ODI bowlers on Wednesday, as Siraj from fell to third place. Mitchell Starc, another Australian pacer who excelled in the first two ODIs of the three-match series in India, joined Siraj at equal third. Siraj, who returned with impressive figures of 3/29 to help India win the first ODI against Australia, was costly in the second ODI, conceding 37 runs in three overs, and thus relinquished his position as the top-ranked bowler.

During the second one-day international in Visakhapatnam, the right-arm pacer bore the bulk of Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head’s attacks. In January of this year, Siraj, who has been effective across formats in recent years, was crowned the world’s best ODI bowler.

Starc’s three wickets in Mumbai sparked Australia’s comeback, while his five wickets in the second one-day international in Visakhapatnam propelled the visitors to a 10-wicket victory.

Hazlewood, who missed the entire India tour consisting of four Tests and three ODIs, became the first-ever No. 1 ODI bowler in the globe.

“Hazlewood, whose career-best second position was achieved for the first time in June 2017 and which he has held since August 2022, is No. 1 in ODIs for the first time,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) said.

Mohammad Shami, who produced a match-winning spell in Mumbai, moved up five positions to reach the 28th position on the rankings.

KL Rahul’s unbeaten 75, which helped India recoup from a sluggish start and win the first ODI by five wickets, moved him up three spots to the 39th position.

Shubman Gill, who made “marginal progress,” and Virat Kohler remained fifth and seventh, respectively, in the ODI batters’ classification, while captain Rohit Sharma moved up one spot to ninth.

Kane Williamson moved up to the second position among batters in Test cricket after his dominant performance against Sri Lanka. The former captain scored 1, 121 not out, and 215 runs in the two-match series, which New Zealand won 2-0.

With his sixth double-hundred in Tests, Williamson is now only one score behind Kohli (seven) for the most scores over 200.

Marnus Labuschagne of Australia remains the highest-ranked batsman in Test cricket.

Henry Nicholls, the left-handed batsman for New Zealand who scored 200 not out in the Wellington Test and was involved in a tremendous 363-run stand with Kane Williamson in the 2,500th Test cricket match, moved up 20 positions to reach 27th.

The commander of Sri Lanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, occupies the tenth position.
