Monday, following the Bihar government’s publication of caste survey data, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated his call for population-based rights.

He stated that the Bihar government’s caste census demonstrates the significance of understanding the country’s caste statistics.

Other Backward Caste (OBC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) account for 63 percent of the state’s population, according to caste survey data released by the Bihar government. These figures have implications for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for next year.

“According to the caste census of Bihar, 84% of the population is comprised of OBC, SC, and ST. Only 3 out of 90 Central Government secretaries are OBC, and they manage only 5% of India’s budget! Therefore, it is essential to understand India’s caste statistics. This is our vow,” Rahul Gandhi wrote on ‘X’ (previously Twitter).

Bihar’s chief minister, Nitish Kumar, congratulated the entire team engaged in the work of caste-based enumeration earlier in the day, stating that the survey not only disclosed the castes but also provided information about the economic status of each individual.

“Today, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the results of the caste-based census conducted in Bihar were released. Congratulations to everyone involved in the caste-based enumeration project!” Bihar CM posted on ‘X’.

“The caste-based enumeration proposal was approved unequivocally by the legislature. With the agreement of all nine parties in the Bihar Assembly, it was decided that the state government will conduct a caste-based census using its own funds, and the Council of Ministers gave its sanction on June 6, 2022. The state government conducted a caste-based census using its own funds,” he explained.

“Not only did the caste-based census reveal the castes, but it also disclosed the economic status of everyone. On the basis of this report, additional steps will be taken for the advancement and development of all divisions,” he added.

He added that shortly a meeting of the same nine parties of the Bihar Assembly will be convened to discuss the caste-based census conducted in Bihar, and they will be informed of the results.

At a press conference in the state’s capital, the results of a caste-based survey conducted in Bihar were made public.

“The extremely backward class is 36.01 percent, the general category is 15.52 percent, and the Other Backward Caste (OBC) is 27 percent,” Additional Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Singh stated.

According to the data, 19.65 percent of the state’s population consists of Scheduled Castes and 1.68 percent consists of Scheduled Tribes.

According to the data, Hindus account for 81.99 percent of the population, Muslims for 17.7 percent, Christians for 0.05 percent, Sikhs for 0.01 percent, Buddhists for 0.08 percent, and other religions for 0.12 percent.

According to the data, the Yadavs, the OBC group to which Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav belongs, are the largest and make up 14.27% of the state’s population.

According to the caste survey, the Kushwaha and Kurmi communities make up 4.27 and 2.87 percent of the population, respectively.

2.86 percent of the population are Bhumihars, 3.66 percent are Brahmins, 2.87 percent are Kurmis, and 3 percent are Musahars.

The total population of Bihar exceeds 13 billion.

A few hours after addressing a crowd in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, Rahul Gandhi was spotted traveling from Bilaspur to Raipur in the general compartment of a train.A few hours after addressing a crowd in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, Rahul Gandhi was spotted traveling from Bilaspur to Raipur in the general compartment of a train.

You can see the Wayanad MP talking to other people on the train in the pictures that the Congress posted on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter).

Gandhi got on the Bilaspur-Itwari Intercity train from Bilaspur with chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, Kumari Selja, who is in charge of the Congress party in the state, and Dipak Baij, who is the head of the state unit. A sleeper bus took them on their trip.

“See the smiles on these girls’ faces? Today, Jannayak Rahul Gandhi Ji made their trip extra special… “This is the difference between a ‘Abhineta’ and a ‘Jan Neta,'” the Chhattisgarh Congress wrote on X.

Rahul Gandhi is known as a leader of the people by the Congress party, who call him Jannayak or Jan Neta.

According to what Baij told the reporters, Gandhi talked to people on the train, including children, during the trip.

One of the girls Gandhi talked to said she played hockey. She also talked about how the astroturf hockey field in Rajnandgaon is getting worse.

The girl from the Rajnandgaon area of the state said, “I told him that we want a new turf.” She had some other girl players with her.

A man who was with the players said that Gandhi asked about the training and tools that were available to them at the Khelo India Centre in Rajnandgaon.

The Congress party in power said that the railway ministry had canceled 2,600 trains in the state in the past few months, making things very hard for people. Baghel had written to the railway ministry earlier to say that 2,600 trains would not be running.

Early that day, Gandhi launched the “Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Nyay Yojana” (MGANY) in the Bilaspur area. He also said bad things about the government at the center, which is run by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, about the census.

Gandhi said that the goal of the Congress government’s “Gramin Awas Nyay Yojna (GANY)” is to help poor people and families living in kutcha houses in rural areas by giving them money.

In Raipur, Gandhi led a meeting about getting ready for the election in the state. CM Baghel, deputy CM TS Singhdeo, and other party leaders were there.

Nominations for all 90 members of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly are due in November.

According to persons familiar with the situation, the president of the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP), Y. S. Sharmila, met with top leaders of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday. This marks a step further in the direction of her party’s merger with the Congress party.

During the course of around one and a half hours, Sharmila and the Gandhis engaged in conversation at their home while eating breakfast. Sharmila was accompanied by her evangelist husband, Anil Kumar.

Later, when speaking to reporters, Sharmila revealed that she and Sonia and Rahul Gandhi had productive conversations about the issue. The leader of the YSRTP stated that because she is the daughter of the late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, who served as chief minister of the unified Andhra Pradesh state government, she will continue to strive toward the welfare of the people of Telangana. She remarked, “I want to tell you one thing, the countdown for Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s rule has begun,” but she did not elaborate further on her intentions for the future.

According to a leader of the YSRTP who has knowledge of the situation, Sharmila has reportedly discussed the technicalities of the merger between her party and the Congress. She informed Sonia that her father’s wish was for Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister, and she gave Sonia her word that she would work toward achieving her father’s goal. On August 11, she already met with the general secretary of the AICC, K. C. Venugopal. The party leader stated that the meeting with Sonia and Rahul that took place today was nothing more than a formality, and he went on to say that it was highly likely that Sharmila would announce the merger of her party with the Congress once she returned to Hyderabad in a day or two.

It would appear that the high command of the Congress party has requested that Sharmila play a more significant role in the party in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and has guaranteed her that they will look out for her political interests. “It is not immediately known what specific assurances the high command has provided to her, but there is a possibility that they could be…” However, during the next elections in Telangana, she will engage in a significant amount of campaigning on behalf of the party, as stated by the leader cited above.

Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear an appeal challenging the Gujarat high court’s refusal to suspend Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a criminal defamation case. This comes two days after a petition was filed in response to the high court’s refusal to suspend the magistrate court’s two-year jail sentence against the Congress leader, resulting in his disqualification as a Lok Sabha member.

The appeal was filed precisely one week after the high court rejected Gandhi’s bid to regain his Lok Sabha seat, finding that the Congress leader “breached modesty” and that his offence involved “moral turpitude.” The appeal was lodged on Saturday morning, but a hearing date has not yet been set. Next week, Gandhi’s attorneys are anticipated to mention the appeal for an expedited hearing.

The Congress leader’s appeal reached the apex court after his earlier petitions were denied by the session court and the high court.

Gandhi urged the highest court to suspend his conviction immediately so he could regain his status as a member of parliament, arguing that the conviction order would stifle free speech, free expression, free thought, and free statement.

“It would contribute to the systematic, repeated emasculation of democratic institutions and the resulting suffocation of democracy, which would be extremely detrimental to India’s political climate and future,” he said.

The order from the highest court indicated that Gandhi’s exclusion from Parliament will persist.

The conviction and two-year prison sentence disqualify Gandhi from entering either House of Parliament for eight years. However, this can be reversed if he can convince a superior court to overturn or suspend the conviction.

K C Venugopal, general secretary of the AICC, stated, “We will appeal the Gujarat High Court’s decision to deny Rahul Gandhi’s request to stay his conviction in the defamation case.”

According to LiveLaw, Justice Hemant Prachchhak heard the appeal, and the court deferred its decision on May 2. However, the court has now denied Gandhi’s motion for reconsideration.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign, Rahul Gandhi made a remark that led to a criminal defamation complaint being filed against him.

He questioned why individuals with the same surname, such as Lalit Modi and Nirav Modi, were embroiled in wrongdoing, stating, “Why do all thieves have the same surname?” The criminal defamation prosecution was based on this statement.

Purnesh Modi, a BJP legislator and former Gujarat minister, filed a criminal defamation suit against Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the latter’s remark defamed the entire Modi community. Gandhi, on the other hand, has stated that he did not intend malice when he made the disputed statement.

After nearly two years of stalemate in the courts, the defamation case against Rahul Gandhi was resumed earlier this year, resulting in his conviction in March.

However, his sentence was suspended and he was granted bail the same day, allowing him to submit an appeal within 30 days.

Gandhi appeared before the Surat Sessions Court on April 3 to contest his conviction and request a stay of execution, but his request was denied on April 20. On April 3, however, the Surat Sessions Court granted him parole, which will remain in effect until the outcome of his appeal.

The judge inflicted the maximum sentence of two years in prison, citing Gandhi’s “status as a parliamentarian,” which heightened the gravity of his public comments.

Within twenty-four hours of Gandhi’s conviction, he was expelled from parliament, which required the minimum prison sentence. If his conviction is affirmed, Gandhi could be barred from holding political office for six years.

Gandhi’s reinstatement as a Member of Parliament (MP) would be made possible by a stay of conviction. In May, while hearing Gandhi’s petition, Justice Prachchhak refused to grant any interim relief, stating that a final order would be issued after the summer recess, which concluded three weeks ago.

Friday, BJP leader Pankaja Munde on Friday rejects the reports that claimed that she is likely to join the Congress and met Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for the same. She stated at a press conference that she had never met Rahul or Sonia Gandhi in person and had never discussed leaving BJP with any party leader. Munde also stated that she will shortly file a defamation lawsuit against the news media outlet.

This comes after media reports claimed Munde had met with Rahul and Sonia Gandhi and would shortly join the Congress. When queried about this, the president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Nana Patole, stated that she is welcome to join his party if she so chooses.

A few days ago, it was reported that I had met Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi twice and that I would be leaving BJP and joining Congress. These press reports are entirely false. I guarantee that I have never discussed joining a political party with any party leader. I have never met either Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi…I intend to file a defamation suit against the channel…,” declared Pankaja Munde, national secretary of the BJP.

The report comes at a time when Maharashtra is experiencing one of its greatest political spectacles since Ajit Pawar led an NCP faction to join the coalition government of CM Eknath Shinde and the BJP.

According to Ajit Pawar’s faction, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) working committee meeting convened by Sharad Pawar on Thursday in Delhi has no legal standing, as reported by the PTI. Sharad Pawar has convened a meeting of the National Executive/National Working Committee/National Office Bearers/State Party Presidents of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today in New Delhi, according to media reports, according to a statement released on behalf of Ajit Pawar.

“Ajit Pawar was elected as the National President of the NCP on June 30, 2023, with the overwhelming support of the majority of elected representatives of the NCP as well as the members working in different organizational posts,” the statement read.

“The number of atrocities committed against tribal brothers and sisters is rising under BJP rule. “The inhuman crime of a BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh has shamed the entire human race,” Gandhi tweeted in Hindi on Wednesday. ”

The BJP leaders traversed the nation, delivered lengthy speeches, and asserted that they would dominate the election. But did you witness what transpired? The BJP will not be present in Telangana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, or Madhya Pradesh, I declare now. Why? “Because the Congress is on the side of the poor,” said Rahul Gandhi. “The entire nation now realizes that BJP represents the advancement of two or three individuals. “Congress, on the other hand, means the improvement of the poor,” said Rahul Gandhi.

“Aap ka attitude kaisa hai? Mood achha hai?” Rahul Gandhi began his speech by stating. This is Rahul Gandhi’s first public address following his trip to the United States.

“You are all aware that a conflict of ideologies is occurring in India. On the one hand, there is the Bharat Jodo ideology of the Congress, and on the other, there is the Bharat Todo ideology of the RSS and BJP. We’ve come here because Bihar is the Congress’s ancestry. Biharis contributed significantly to our Bharat Jodo Yatra. I used to question people where they were from everywhere I went. The response was Bihar. You participated in the yatra because you believe in the ideology,” said Rahul Gandhi.

“You are aware that hatred cannot terminate hatred. Love alone can. “Today, all opposition party leaders are present,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Prior to Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that if the party triumphs in Bihar, it can win nationwide.

Friday, Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal asked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and ex-MP Rahul Gandhi for more time to oppose the Centre’s ordinance regarding administrative services in the national capital.

Kejriwal tweeted, “Sought time this morning to meet Cong President Sh Kharge ji and Sh Rahul Gandhi ji to seek Cong support in Parliament against the undemocratic and unconstitutional ordinance passed by the BJP government, as well as to discuss the general assault on the federal structure and the current political situation.”

In response to Kejriwal’s remark, Congress leader Alka Lamba stated, “AAP should apologize to the Congress, former Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, late ex-CM Sheila Dixit, and the Gandhi family.” If things proceed, Congress employees will have no objections. We trust the president of the Congress will consider the feelings of party members who were offended by the Aam Aadmi Party.”

This comes one day after the convener of the Aam Aadmi Party conferred with the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party to gain support for the issue. Pawar supported Kejriwal and stated that he would reach out to other states to cultivate consensus among opposition parties, describing the Centre’s ordinance as an attack on parliamentary democracy. Kejriwal had also met Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Matoshree in Mumbai prior to his meeting with Pawar.

The chief minister of Delhi already has West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee on his side in his fight against the ordinance limiting the administrative powers of the Delhi government. The leader of the Trinamool Congress assured Kejriwal that her party will oppose the legislation when it is introduced to parliament.
