Missing Argentine Man Found In Shark’s Stomach, was Identify Him By His Tattoo
Metro reported that the body parts of an Argentine man who went missing earlier this month were found in the stomach of a shark. According to the report, Diego Barria, who is 32 years old, was last seen riding his bike on February 18 near the coast of Argentina’s southern Chubut province. Authorities looked for him for a long time but couldn’t find any sign of him.
Ten days later, two fishermen said that they had caught three school sharks near where Mr. Barria’s car had been found. As they were taking the sharks apart, they found the bones of a forearm. They called the coastguard right away.
Daniela Millatruz, who is in charge of the search for Mr. Barria, told local media that the fishermen said, “When they were cleaning [the sharks], they found human remains in one of them.”
“We think Diego got into an accident, and we’re looking into whether a car was involved,” Ms. Millatruz said.
Then, Mr. Barria’s family was able to identify his body based on a tattoo that could be seen. In the meantime, a DNA test is being done to make sure the body parts are his.
The head of the police department in Comodoro Rivadavia, Cristian Ansaldo, said that the school shark where the body parts were found was about 1.5 metres long (4.9 feet). He also said that Mr. Barria went missing over the weekend when there was a strong tide surge.

Jose Mazzei, a spokesperson for Civil Protection, said, “Right now, we have two ideas about how he got into the water. The first is that he was hurt. And the other, which has more weight, is that he was knocked out on the beach because the quad was broken, and the strong high tide carried him away.
But the exact cause of death is still unknown, and all possibilities are now being looked into.
