Three days after breaking a 45-year record, water level of Yamuna river in Delhi dropped to 208.17 metres at 6 p.m. on Friday, despite the inundation of several critical areas of the city.
After three hours of stability, the water level began to rise on Thursday, reaching 208.66 metres at 7 p.m., three metres above the danger threshold of 205.33 metres.
According to data from the Central Water Commission (CWC), the water level was 208.57 metres in the early hours of Friday and 208.48 metres at 5 a.m.
At 8 a.m., the water level in the Yamuna was 208.42 metres. It decreased to 208.25 metres at 3 p.m. and 208.27 metres at 1 p.m. At six o’clock, the reading was 208.17 metres.
The Yamuna in Delhi reached 207.71 metres in height on Wednesday, surpassing its 1978 record of 207.49 metres.
