Sourabh Phadke, an architect and teacher from Pune, has been invited to witness the coronation of King Charles III as one of the selected charity champions. Sourabh Phadke responded to the invitation by stating that he is still processing the information.
The 38-year-old was selected due to his affiliation with the causes supported by the Prince’s Foundation, a charity founded by Prince Charles when he was Prince of Wales. Sourabh Phadke joined the foundation’s Traditional Building Skills programme, where he trained as a stonemason and expanded his skill set.
“It’s still settling in, and I have no idea what to expect since I’ve never attended a Coronation before. Sourabh Phadke stated, “I’m approaching it with this spirit in mind.”
“It was a chance for me to return to school and participate in the [Prince’s Foundation] initiative. I was extremely grateful for the opportunity. “Although I had worked with stone in the past, I had no formal training as a stonemason,” he recalled.

“It could be homes, bathrooms, schools, or anything else a community required. It may be in impoverished neighborhoods, institutions, farms, or women’s collectives. I lived primarily where I worked and moved frequently between locations. In some instances, we would arrive at a location and begin constructing, for example, a toilet in an area where there was no lavatory, and we would camp outdoors. It taught me a great deal,” he told the news agency PTI.
He added, “Crafts and talents are occasions for reflection. It is the same whether I am constructing a toilet in India or collaborating with a student on a project in the United Kingdom. We must be able to respect everything equally; it can offer us the same happiness and affection.”
