Today, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will release the schedule for the May assembly election in Karnataka. The election commission has sent out an invitation to announce the election schedule at 11.30 a.m.
The Congress party has been conducting a vigorous campaign against the governing BJP, alleging massive corruption, while the saffron party has recently embarked on a statewide “Vijay Sankalp Yatra.”
The Congress party released its first list of 124 candidates for the Karnataka Assembly elections on Saturday, with former chief minister Siddaramaiah replacing his son and incumbent MLA Yathindra in the Varuna constituency in Mysuru.
Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar was nominated from the Kanakapura assembly constituency, with the first list consisting primarily of the party’s incumbent seats and constituencies for which the state unit recommended only one candidate.
Janata Dal-Secular, an additional significant force in the southern state, has also announced its candidates for 93 seats. Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy proclaimed on Tuesday that, if elected, the JD-S would provide a 50% subsidy on cooking gas cylinders.

“The central government implemented the Ujwala program by promising free gas.” Women who believed this were given a cylinder and a price increase as a rude awakening. Now that the price of a cylinder has surpassed 1,000, it has become impossible for the poor to subsist,” said Kumaraswamy.
