The 43-year-old David Sweetman once drove a lottery bus. But in 2018, his luck turned around, as he won a massive £100,000 prize (almost Rs 1 crore). He did not, however, ever quit operating his truck. In the meantime, though, something happened, and he was exposed. A shipment of shoes was given to the lorry driver, but when he got to the distributors, many of them were missing. The corporation opened an investigation as soon as they were made aware of this information. The truth surfaced after a CCTV camera inspection.

The CCTV footage showed that David frequently stole the shoes. He had even put together a squad to execute his secret operations. David used to take some boxes for himself by stashing them in another car after he left the companies with the boxes. Previously, this operation was only carried out by David’s chosen individuals. He committed shoe theft between August and September 2020, totaling £15,450. This is almost equal to 16 lakh Indian rupees.
After being detained by the police, David instantly admitted his error and entered a plea of guilty when he was presented in court. According to the court, David was cleared of all charges since he had previously been anticipating jail time and felt regret for his acts because the man had pled guilty around two years prior and the prosecution was postponed. His attorney Max disclosed that he is currently employed as a window installer and makes about £300 per week.
