Ukraine claims “Massive” Missile Attacks
Following President Volodymyr Zelensky’s trip to several European nations to lobby for the development of long-range weapons, Ukraine’s capital city of Kyiv reported that Russia had begun “massive” missile and drone attacks on Friday.
According to a statement made by the air force on Friday morning, “the enemy struck cities and critical infrastructure facilities.” The statement went on to say that seven “kamikaze” drones made in Iran were launched from the Sea of Azov, and six Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from the Black Sea.
It was reported by the air force that they had destroyed five drones in addition to five Kalibr missiles.
According to the statement, Russia also carried out a “massive” attack, targeting the Kharkiv region in the east and the Zaporizhzhia region in the south. The attack reportedly used “up to 35 anti-aircraft guided missiles.”
According to the statements made by the governor of Kharkiv, Oleg Sinegubov, “critical and infrastructural facilities were targeted,” which resulted in fires that were “immediately” extinguished.
He reported that no one had been hurt, but that the power was off in certain areas of the city.
According to a statement made by a local official, Anatoly Kurtev, parts of Zaporizhzhia are currently without electricity as a result of damage to the city’s “energy and industrial infrastructure.”
According to Kurtev, “the biggest number” of strikes has been recorded in a single hour since Russia entered nearly a year ago. There were 17 strikes registered.
