Uluwatu Temple, Bali – Wanderela

Uluwatu Temple, an ancient hindu temple with ocean vistas, is a sacred temple that is cherished by the people of Bali and tourists alike.

Uluwatu is referred to as Pura Luhur. Due to its wonderful setting, Uluwatu is well-liked by tourists. Ulu denotes the top or point, and water denotes a rock or stone. The majestic temple is perched about 70 meters above sea level on a cliff top. One of Bali’s six illustrious temples, it is regarded as one of the island’s sacred pillars.

The temple, like Tanah Lot Temple on Bali’s beautiful island, is renowned for its spectacular sunsets. The inner sanctuary, or chamber, of Uluwatu Temple is imposing over the southward-breaking, world-famous surf of the island. It is placed on a sharp edge cliff.

The breathtaking seaside vistas and charming Kecak dance performances held at an amphitheater nearby make Uluwatu Temple a traveler’s heaven. The spectacular Balinese architecture, ancient statues, and classically built entrances of Pura Luhur Uluwatu add to the temple’s allure.

Numerous archaeological relics can be found everywhere around the temple, indicating that Uluwatu dates back to roughly the ninth century. There are two entrances to the temple, one coming from the north and one coming from the south.

A little forest that is home to many monkeys and is believed to be the faithful guardians of Bali’s Uluwatu Temple surrounds the temple. The winding walkway of this lovely temple is shielded by sturdy concrete walls on the cliffside.

From one end of the temple to the other, it takes around an hour. Along the path to the temple, there are many walled locations where you can stop for a moment to rest or unwind. You will be in awe of the breathtaking sights of the ocean wave crashing against the cliffs and the breathtaking horizon.

Hindus in Bali believe that this temple is where the force of the Hindu Trinity—Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu—comes together. The Uluwatu Temple, the Hindu shrine to Shiva Rudra, the god of all facets and components of this world, was built as a result of their conviction.
