A Prayagraj police squad engaged in combat with an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case early on Monday, according to officials. The confrontation happened in Prayagraj’s trans-Yamuna region, close to the Kaundhiyara police station. Vijay Chaudhary, also known as Usman or Naan Babu, was a 27-year-old inhabitant of Kaundhiyara’s Amokhar village.
The emergency medical officer at SRN Hospital, Dr. Badri Vishal Singh, stated: “Patient Usman was brought deceased. We conducted the tests, after which he was pronounced dead and the corpse was taken to the mortuary. He was wounded.
Shalabh Mani Tripathi, a BJP MLA, responded to the encounter by saying, “Didn’t we state that the mafia nexus would be destroyed? Usman, the notorious assailant who shot Umesh Pal and Sandeep Nishad first, was also slain in a police shootout today.”
Rep. Ravi Kishan of Gorakhpur wrote, “It was predicted by Pujya Maharaj @myogiadityanath ji that the mafia nexus would be destroyed. Usman, the infamous assailant who shot Umesh Pal and Sandeep Nishad first, was also killed in an encounter by the cops today #up.”
Umesh Pal, an advocate, was assassinated on February 24 in front of his home in Prayagraj’s Sulem Sarai neighbourhood. Also hurt were his two police protection guards. Sandeep Nishad, a police officer, passed away later that day, and Raghvendra Singh, another bodyguard, perished on March 1 from his wounds at SGPGIMS-Lucknow.
Umesh Pal was a crucial witness in the 2005 assassination of BSP MLA Raju Pal in Prayagraj, which has mafioso-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother, former MLA Khalid Azeem, as the main suspects, along with many close associates.
Within 72 hours of the murder of Umesh Pal, the Prayagraj cops had also killed another suspect, Mohd Arbaaz, by shooting him. 22-year-old Arbaaz lived in Sallahpur village in the nearby Kaushambi district’s Puramufti region.
