Atiq Ahmed, a former gangster turned politician, is being transferred from Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Atiq Ahmed is being escorted by Uttar Pradesh Police to Prayagraj, where he will be brought before a court in connection with an abduction case in which he is an accused.
According to an order from a court in Uttar Pradesh, the judgment in a 2018 kidnapping case will be announced on March 28. All defendants in the case, including Atiq Ahmed, have been ordered to appear in court on that date.

Consequently, the UP Police arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning in order to convey him to Prayragraj within the following thirty-six hours. The route for conveying the gangster-turned-politician is likely to pass through Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, and Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, according to the police’s detailed plan.
ATIQ AHMED FEARS FOR LIFE
Atiq Ahmed, who has been incarcerated in Sabarmati prison since June 2019, petitioned the Supreme Court for protection earlier this month. He asserted that he and his family were falsely implicated as suspects in the Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj, and that he could be murdered in a sham encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Police.
He stated in his petition that the Uttar Pradesh Police would likely seek his transit remand and police remand in order to transport him from Ahmedabad to Prayagraj, and that he “sincerely fears he may be killed during this transit period.”

Nonetheless, a court in Prayagraj has set March 28 as the date by which it will render a verdict in the abduction case in which Ahmed is a defendant. The judge ordered that all defendants must appear before the court on the date of the verdict. The UP Police then arrived in Ahmedabad to transport him to Prayagraj.
