Sunday, the national president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Akhilesh Yadav, questioned the “absence” of Uttar Pradesh’s deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak from the photo session held at the conclusion of the recent Budget session. Yadav asked if their posts held any significance or if they were purposely left out.
In a tweet in Hindi accompanied by the group photo in which he was present, Akhilesh Yadav stated, “The photograph of MLAs taken without both deputy chief ministers is insufficient. We demand that the government provide an explanation for their absence.”
In his tweet, he also demanded that the government disclose whether the deputy prime ministers were absent or not invited. “Is the position of deputy chief minister significant or not? Do they even count?” he inquired. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak responded to a television news agency that he was ignorant of Yadav’s tweet.
