Virat Kohli still has another World Cup in him: Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle, however, opined that Virat Kohli has the ability to play one more World Cup after the 2023 edition of the tournament.

After their victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy under the stewardship of MS Dhoni, India has been on the losing end of ICC knockout matches. Earlier this month, Rohit Sharma’s squad confronted Australia in the World Test Championship final, where they had the opportunity to break the curse. However, the Pat Cummins-led team crushed them by 209 runs.

India will exclusively host the ODI World Cup for the first time later this year. Former captain Virat Kohli will be one of the team’s most important members as India attempts to win its third ODI World Cup. The legendary Indian batsman will turn 35 during the tournament, which is one reason why many believe this could be Kohli’s final World Cup.

Chris Gayle, a legendary West Indian batsman, believes that Virat Kohli is capable of playing in one more World Cup after the 2023 tournament.

“Virat Kohli is still capable of winning another World Cup. I don’t believe this will be his final World Cup. I believe he can win another World Cup. India is favored, and they also play at home. Therefore, it will be very intriguing. In an interview with TimesofIndia.com, Gayle expressed his desire to see the actual team that will be selected.

“First of all, they’re going to select the squad because so many individuals are knocking on the door. India will also always be a fan favorite at home. Consequently, this also increases the burden on the India team.”
