Tata Group and Vistara Airlines, which is owned by Singapore Airlines, have announced that flight operations will begin on March 26 from Terminal 2 of Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. With this announcement, the full-service carrier became the third airline to move its operations to T2, following Star Air and Air Asia. Star Air began operations on January 15, 2023, and Air Asia on February 15, 2023. Terminal 2 of the airport will now have a total of three carriers operating.
The flights provided by Vistara will connect Bengaluru to multiple Indian cities. The cities included on the list are Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Mumbai, and Dehradun. The airline’s action follows the announcement that it will consolidate with Tata Group-owned Air India. In addition, rumors indicate that Air India intends to commence flight operations from Terminal 2 of the Bengaluru International Airport.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened Terminal 2 at the Bengaluru airport in November of 2017. It costs approximately Rs 5 trillion to build.
BIAL officials claim that T2’s 10,000 square meters of verdant walls, hanging gardens, and outdoor gardens created using local technology provide passengers with a “garden walk” experience. In addition, it honors Bengaluru’s moniker, “Garden City.” T2 is a 2,500,000-square-meter facility on the terminal 1’s northeastern border that can accommodate 25 million passengers annually.
