During the meeting, State Project Director of the project Naresh Thakur said that under the scheme, more than 83 percent of the target set for the year 2022-23 has been completed.

Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Secretary Rakesh Kanwar held a review meeting of the ongoing ‘Natural Farming Khushhal Kisan Yojana’ on Tuesday. The Agriculture Secretary directed the officers associated with the scheme to complete the set targets in time. During the meeting, State Project Director of the project Naresh Thakur said that under the scheme, more than 83 percent of the target set for the year 2022-23 has been completed and the remaining targets will also be completed in time in the next three days.

Apart from this, Naresh Thakur said that the process of certification of farmers doing natural farming is going on and so far the work of registration of 19 thousand farmers of the state has been completed. During the meeting, the project directors of all the districts informed about the natural farming activities going on in their respective districts and told about the action plan. During the meeting, the preparations for the National Natural Farming Mission brought by the Central Government were also discussed.

Apart from this, the District Project Directors were also informed about the preparations and upcoming strategy to celebrate International Nutritious Food Year 2023. Agriculture Director Dr. BR Takkhi, Additional Agriculture Director Dr. Vijay Sharma, Joint Agriculture Director Dr. Raghbir Singh and officials of Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana Implementation Unit were present in the meeting.

What is Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana

Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana has been started by the Government of Himachal Pradesh to make the farmers of the state self-reliant and increase their income. Under this scheme, farmers are given training in natural farming by the government. Also, the main objective of that scheme is that farmers will be taught to do farming without using chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Under this scheme, 72,193 farmer families of 2934 panchayats out of 3226 in the state are being trained for natural farming, in which 9.61 lakh farmer families of the state will be brought under natural farming by 2022. The main goal of starting this scheme by the government is to stop the farming done by chemical fertilizers in our country and natural resources should be used in farming.
