World Cancer Day 2023: Cancer refers to a broad category of diseases that can affect any organ or tissue in the body of a human being. The cells begin to behave in an abnormal manner and become uncontrollable as a result of their invasion of additional cancer cells in the surrounding areas of the body. And additionally, it results in the loss of human life if it is not discovered at the appropriate time.
Cancer has now overtaken cardiovascular disease as the second leading cause of death worldwide. According to a projection made available by the World Health Organization (WHO), there were 9.6 million people who passed away in the year 2018.
This disease continues to impose a greater burden on society. An individual will experience pressure on multiple levels, including their physical body, their emotions, and their finances.
Therefore, in order to bring attention to the problems associated with cancer, World Cancer Day is held on February 4. The purpose of this day is to rally various stakeholders, including the general public, government officials, and members of the medical community, to collaborate on the overarching mission of lowering the worldwide cancer death toll.
