Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, completed six years in office on Sunday by visiting Ayodhya and praying at the Hanumangarhi and Ram Lalla temples for the state’s prosperity.According to a government statement, he was also apprised on the progress of the construction of the Ram temple. He was informed that 70 percent of the temple’s construction had been completed.
On March 19, 2017, Yogi Adityanath, who is the ‘Gorakshpeethadhishwar’ (chief of the Gorakhpur-based ‘Goraksha Peeth’), took his first oath of office as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. On March 25, 2022, after the BJP won the UP Assembly elections in 2022, he took the oath once more.
Adityanath visited Varanasi on Saturday and offered prayers at the ‘Kaal Bhairav’ and ‘Kashi Vishwanath’ temples.After Adityanath had darshan of ‘Ram Lalla,’ Champat Rai, the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, presented him with a memento.
According to the statement, Adityanath also inquired about the health of the construction workers on the Ram temple.Saturday, in Lucknow, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated Adityanath on completing six years in office and lauded his performance during that time.
“To my knowledge, no one has served as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for this length of time. Dr. Sampurnanand was the longest-serving Chief Minister, but his record has been broken by Yogi Adityanathji,” Singh had stated.
Dr. Sampurnanand served as the state’s chief minister from December 28, 1954 to April 9, 1957. On April 10, 1957, he was re-elected as Prime Minister and remained in office until December 6, 1960. He held the position of Prime Minister for 5 years and 345 days.

Govind Ballabh Pant served as the first Chief Minister of UP from January 26, 1950 to May 20, 1952 and then again from May 20, 1952 to December 28, 1954.Pant additionally served twice as the Premier of the United Provinces (renamed Uttar Pradesh). His first term spanned 17 July 1937 to 2 November 1939. The second tour of duty lasted from April 1, 1946 until January 25, 1950.
