YouTube CEO Steps Down: Susan Wojcicki, the chief executive of YouTube and one of the original Google employees, said on Thursday that she was leaving the company she helped create in her garage 25 years prior.
Insider Neal Mohan will take over for Wojcicki. The change of leadership occurs as Netflix and TikTok, a popular app for short videos, compete for viewer attention with YouTube.
Wojcicki, 54, one of the most well-known women in computing, stated that she will concentrate on “family, health, and personal projects.”
Today, after nearly 25 years at @Google, I’m stepping back to start a new chapter. I'm inspired every day by creators around the world who bring people together on @YouTube. It's been an honor to have a front row seat to this incredible community. https://t.co/063sYalPzX

According to sources, Wojcicki informed the YouTube workers of her resignation in a memo. The time is appropriate for me, and I feel empowered to do this since YouTube is run by an outstanding leadership group, according to Wojcicki. In 2014, she was appointed CEO of YouTube from her previous position as senior vice president for advertising products at Google.
She declared that Mohan will take over her position and said: “One of my top aims after joining YouTube nine years ago was to assemble a stellar leadership team. Neal Mohan, the new SVP and CEO of YouTube, was one of those executives. I’ve worked with Neal for about 15 years, starting in 2007 when Google acquired DoubleClick and continuing as his position grew to become SVP of Display and Video Advertising. In 2015, he was appointed Chief Product Officer of YouTube.”
Thank you, @SusanWojcicki. It's been amazing to work with you over the years. You've built YouTube into an extraordinary home for creators and viewers. I'm excited to continue this awesome and important mission. Looking forward to what lies ahead… https://t.co/Rg5jXv1NGb
