Cyber security incident at AIIMS: The e-hospital server of the National Informatics Center used at AIIMS in Delhi has been down since 7 am, affecting OPD and sample collection services. AIIMS officials said that all these services are currently working on ‘manual mode’. Delhi AIIMS has said in its statement that it could be a ransomware attack after the server was down throughout the day. Recently, there was a malware attack on CDSL only last week.
AIIMS said in a statement that a team from the National Informatics Center (NIC) working at AIIMS has informed that it could be a ransomware attack. Appropriate law enforcement officials will investigate this. An AIIMS official said that the OPD and IPD digital hospital services including smart lab, billing, report generation and appointment system have been affected due to the server shutdown.
Officers engaged in restoration of services
Another official said that the OPD and sample collection services were provided in ‘manual mode’. AIIMS said in a statement that steps are being taken to restore digital services and the help of Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and NIC is being taken. It has been said in the statement that AIIMS and NIC will take proper precautions to prevent such attacks in future. Hospital services are being provided on manual mode till 7.30 pm.

Very sensitive data related to the healthcare records of the President, Prime Minister, former PM and other ministers and many celebrities are saved in the server of AIIMS. There is a possibility of leaking confidential information regarding this. Presently the hospital services are running on manual mode. A complaint has been given by AIIMS to the cyber cell of Delhi Police regarding the detection of server hack. AIIMS server is operated by National Informatics Center (NIC).
