School shootings are a big problem in the United States. In May, an 18-year-old gunman killed 19 kids and two teachers at a school in Uvalde, Texas.
According to the Gun Violence Archive database, there were about 44,000 gun-related deaths in the United States last year. About half were caused by murder, accidents, or self-defense, and the other half were suicides.
