Cash-strapped Pakistan is still dealing with the terrible effects of the deadly floods, and it has a lot to do. In January 2023, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked the rest of the world for money, saying that his country needed USD 30 billion to recover from the floods.
Dar said that Pakistan finance minister was in trouble because of the wrongdoings of the last government and a “drama” that began about five years ago. He also said that Pakistan’s economy was strong from 2013 to 2017 when Nawaz Sharif was in charge. He said that the Pakistan Stock Exchange was the best capital market in South Asia and was ranked fifth when Nawaz Sharif was in power.

“Pakistan was on the path to growth when Nawaz was in charge, but it got off track,” he said.
“People can see how much damage has been done to the country in the last five years, and they know who has done it before,” Dar said.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that Pakistan is the only country that was started in the name of Islam and that Allah is to thank for its growth and success. He said this as the cash-strapped country faced a severe balance of payments crisis.
