In UNGA, caretaker PM Kakar criticizes Jammu & Kashmir.

Pakistan always brings up Jammu and Kashmir during UN sessions, regardless of the agenda.

Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Friday raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in his address to the UN General Assembly, saying that Kashmir is the key to peace between New Delhi and Islamabad.

Pakistan consistently raises the issue of Jammu and Kashmir at various UN forums, regardless of the meeting’s agenda or topic of discussion.

In his address to the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly’s General Debate, Kakar stated that Pakistan desires peaceful and productive relations with all of its neighbors, including India.

He stated, “Kashmir is the key to harmony between Pakistan and India.”

“Peace and development are interdependent. Pakistan is located in the world’s least economically integrated region. Pakistan believes that regions grow together, so it seeks tranquil and productive relations with all of its neighbors, including India, he said.

Kakar stated that the United Nations Security Council must ensure the implementation of its Kashmir resolutions and that the United Nations Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) must be “reinforced.”

“Global powers must persuade New Delhi to embrace Pakistan’s offer of mutual restraint on strategic and conventional weapons,” he stated.

India has informed Pakistan that it desires normal neighborly relations in the absence of terrorism, hostility, and violence.

Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India, as New Delhi has repeatedly emphasized.

India has also urged Pakistan to address its domestic issues instead of bringing up the Kashmir dispute and leveling baseless accusations against New Delhi.

On August 5, 2019, New Delhi abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Regarding Afghanistan, Kakar stated that stability is a strategic imperative for Pakistan.

“Pakistan shares the worries of the rest of the world about Afghanistan, especially when it comes to the rights of women and girls.” However, we support continuing to provide humanitarian help to the poor people of Afghanistan, especially Afghan girls and women, who are the most at risk. We also support bringing the Afghan economy back to life and putting the connectivity projects with Central Asia into action, he said.

“The most important thing for Pakistan is to stop and fight all forms of terrorism from and within Afghanistan.” Pakistan is against the terrorist acts that the TTP, Daesh, and other groups working out of Afghanistan have done across the border in Pakistan. To stop these strikes, we have asked Kabul to help and work with us. But we are also doing what we need to do to stop this crime that is being supported from outside our country, he said.
