MAHAKUMBH-2025: Prayagraj approved for 23 ₹356 crore projects

In the first instalment, the government has released ₹108.35 crore to launch the projects, officials said.

As part of getting ready for the big religious show Mahakumbh in 2025, the state government has given money for development work to be done in Prayagraj. The event, which happens every 12 years, will start on January 13, 2025, on the sandy banks of Sangam.

District officials reported that 356.26 billion rupees had been approved for 23 initiatives and that a government order had been issued in this regard. They added that the government has released 108.35 billion to launch the initiatives in the initial phase.

Mahakumbh Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand confirmed the news, stating that 23 projects in the city have been approved by the state government, which has also disbursed the initial portion of the funds.

Among the approved development projects are riverfront roads, the enlargement of a section near SRN Hospital, and the construction of a concrete culvert over a drain in Mansaita.

The Irrigation Department has been allotted the utmost budget for eight projects, including the construction of riverfront roads.

On the left bank of the Yamuna, a 900-meter slope pitching and enlargement has received funding of 2.5 crore. For the interlocking construction between Nagvasuki Temple and Dashashwamedh Ghat Ganga trisection to prevent erosion, the first installment of more than 4.74 billion out of the required 18.95 billion has been released.

Similarly, approximately 9.88 crore out of the required 39.51 crore has been allocated for the interlocking work on the 2,700-meter segment between Kali Trisection and Chhatnag.

On a 3,800-meter stretch between Amitabh Bachchan Pulia and Nagvasuki Connect Road, 61.44 lakh has been released out of the required 15.36 crore for interlocking works.

Over 6.8 crore out of the required 27.25 crore has been allocated for the 1350-meter interlocking between Old GT Road and Garib Das Ashram, and over 5.8 crore for the interlocking between Daraganj Trisection and Shastri Bridge.

In addition, approximately 6.1 crore out of 24.3 crore allocated for a four-kilometer road from Rasulabad Ghat to Gangeshwar Mahadev has been released.

Two initiatives have also been approved for the Public Works Department and the UP Bridge Corporation. The expansion of the Mansaita sewer bridge on the Phaphamau-Sahso-Hanumanganj road has been approved for 20.99 crore, of which 5.25 crore has been released. Similarly, 13.92 crore has been approved for the enlargement of the ROB connecting platforms 1 through 4 at the Phaphamau railway station; 3.48 crore has been released in the first tranche.

The budget for thirteen roads managed by the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) also exceeds 166 crore. In the initial payment, they received 44,72 crore.

Funds released for road widening and construction

The enlargement of the 1.67-kilometer-long Naini Kharkoni to Arail road was granted 2.75 billion out of 10.98 billion.

3.22 crores of the 12.87 crores approved for the widening of the 1.10-kilometer road from the Jhunsi bus terminus to Ganga have been released.

The 950-meter road from Jhunsi Lotus Hospital to Katka has been funded with 3.06 crore out of 6.12 crore.

From Teliarganj Sangam Vatika to Rasulabad Ghat, a 1.250-kilometer road is to be widened at a cost of 4.36 billion out of 8.72 billion approved.

Over 1.80 crore has been disbursed of the 3.60 crore allocated for the 380-meter road from SRN Hospital to Mahatma Gandhi Marg.

From ADA Mode in Naini to ADA Colony, a 674-meter road has received 2.84 billion rupees out of a total of 5.68 billion rupees.

From ADA Colony in Naini to Arail Ghat, 5.23 crore were disbursed out of 10.45 crore that had been approved.

From the Old Yamuna bridge to the Leprosy Mission, an 815-meter road was allocated 7.89 million, of which 3.95 million was released.

The discharge of 7.70 crore out of 15.40 crore authorized for the widening of a 1.4-kilometer road from Azad Park Gate No. 6 to Sangam Petrol Pump.

Out of the 5.96 crores allotted for the renovation of the old Yamuna Bridge, 2.98 crores have been disbursed.

Out of the 11.19 crore authorized for the enlargement of the road from COD crossing to Chheoki railway station on the Mirzapur highway, 2.80 crore were released.

The 2200-meter road from Shantipuram Sector 1 to Bela Cachar was allotted 4.40 million, of which 2.20 million was disbursed.
