Bihar: Five arrested for Ram Navami violence, says Police

Bihar Police announced on Sunday that they have uncovered the plot to orchestrate communal violence during Ram Navami, and five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

Bihar Police announced on Sunday that they have uncovered the plot to orchestrate communal violence during Ram Navami, and five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

During Ram Navami, incidents of communal violence were reported in Nalanda district’s Bihar Sharif, resulting in the loss of lives and property, according to a statement issued by the Bihar Police.

A SIT was established to investigate the incident. An exhaustive investigation was conducted of all social media platforms and cyberspace.

According to the police, some groups with vested interests attempted to disrupt communal harmony and orchestrate violence during the Ram Navami celebrations in a premeditated manner.

Several false and deceptive social media posts aimed at one community were shared, according to the police.

The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) has registered case number 07/2023 against 15 individuals for violating sections 153, 153 (A)(1)(a), 153 (A)(1)(b), 153 (A)(1)(c), 501 (1) (b), 501 (1) (c), 297, and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66 and 66 (F) of the Information Technology Act.

Five individuals have subsequently been arrested for Ram Navami violence. The police identified the five apprehended suspects as Manish Kumar, Tushar Kumar Tanti, Dharmendra Mehta, Bhupendra Singh Rana, and Niranjan Pandey.

The devices through which they allegedly uploaded the content have also been confiscated. Police are currently conducting additional searches. In addition, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to conduct additional investigations.

According to the compiled evidence, a thorough investigation will be conducted, according to the release.

During the Ram Navami celebrations in Bihar’s Nalanda district, there were reports of communal conflict. There were reports of violence, arson, and the throwing of stones, which led to the enforcement of Section 144 in some areas. Over 130 individuals were detained by the police.
