After Microsoft-backed Open AI’s Chat GPT went viral, AI is expected to transform search engines. Google, the industry leader in search engines, has recently joined the bandwagon with the introduction of ‘Bard’.Here is everything you need to know about Google’s Bard AI, a possible ChatGPT killer.
What is Bard?
Similar to Chat GPT, Bard is a conversational AI chatbot that can deliver conversational responses to text-based questions posed by users. Any type of trigger can elicit reactions resembling those of a human. It can, among other things, compose an essay, provide suggestions for your travel itinerary, and tell you a joke.
The artificial intelligence service is driven by Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA), which has been under development for years. Bard obtains their response-related information from the Internet.

“Bard can be an outlet for creativity and a springboard for curiosity, enabling you to explain new discoveries from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old, or learn more about the best strikers in football right now, and then get drills to improve your skills,” said Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
It was initially provided using Google’s lightweight model version of LaMDA, which it claims is a smaller model that requires less computer resources, allowing it to scale to more users and permit greater feedback. It intends to combine external feedback with internal testing to ensure that Bard’s responses reach a high standard for quality, safety, and realism.
Chat GPT Vs Bard AI
Although Chat GPT and Bard AI perform similar services, the two chatbots are distinct. In order to deliver responses, Bard AI pulls information from the internet, whereas ChatGPT pulls information from the data it was trained on. This is said in order to give Bard an advantage, as ChatGPT’s training is restricted to data gathered until 2021. However, Bard would receive real-time updates via the Internet.
Chat GPT is driven by Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 (GPT3), an autoregressive language model introduced in 2020 that employs deep learning to produce text that resembles human language. Bard AI is, however, driven by Google’s LaMDA.

Some users have stated that Chat GPT has a problem with prejudice. Users have witnessed the AI chatbot respond to requests with racist and sexist language. However, users can avoid this by reformulating their queries. Analysts note that Google’s Bard AI may potentially have a problem with bias, as it pulls information from the internet, which is not filtered and harbours falsehoods
How to access and utilise Bard?
In its infancy, Bard is not readily accessible to the public. In its testing phase, only a limited number of people can access Bard on the Google app by clicking the presented chatbot icon. In the future, it is anticipated that the tech giant will integrate the conversational AI service into the widely utilised Google Search; however, the timing of public release is currently unknown.
