“I’m a Scumbag” the thief writes upon returning the stolen “Postbox to Paradise.”

As well as a letter in which he admitted, “I’m a scumbag” and added, “With all my heart, I’m so so regretful.”

In the United Kingdom, a thief felt such remorse for his criminal act that he not only returned the stolen items, but also left a contrition letter and 2,000 to compensate for any damages caused by the theft.
On Sunday morning, the hooded robber was captured on surveillance cameras swiping a crate from Hughes Funeral Directors in Cannock, Staffordshire, sparking outrage among the local populace (March 1). According to The Metro News, the white-painted pillar box, also known as the “postbox to paradise,” was installed at the location so that grieving relatives could compose letters to deceased loved ones.

The news source added that this larceny act infuriated the public because the stolen box contained numerous letters, photographs, and other writings addressed to the deceased by their loved ones.

Kim Hughes, the 38-year-old proprietor of the funeral home, exclaimed, “My heart plummeted” when she realised it was gone, adding, “All he’d probably get out of opening it is a portrait of his grandfather drawn by some children.”

However, the news disseminated on social media and through other sources of communication, and the thief came to know about the actuality of the box.

With this information, the guilty criminal had a change of heart and returned the item the following day.

Hughes Funeral Directors shared this information via a Facebook post containing images of the letter and the crate.

The burglar also left 2,000 (20 pounds) for paint after damaging the postbox, as well as a letter in which he admitted, “I’m a scumbag” and added, “With all my heart, I’m so so regretful.”

The note stated, “I’m contributing twenty pounds for you to repaint it. I’m so apologetic.

“Please accept my sincerest apologies for stealing the mailbox; I did not read the letter or anything else indicating what it contained.”

“That in no way makes it acceptable. I’m a scoundrel for accepting it in the first place. It was late when I saw it on Facebook, and I’m a coward, a lowlife.”

Please absolve me, and believe me when I say I was unaware of the situation.

“I have placed it in a location where you can retrieve it because I am an imbecile who is so embarrassed of what I have done. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I’m truly apologetic.”
