Gigi Hadid, who attended the opening ceremony of the multidisciplinary center on Friday, also accompanied Zendaya, Tom Holland, Penelope Cruz, Priyanka Chopra, and Nick Jonas for a gala celebrating the first exhibition on Saturday.
Hadid wrote on Instagram, “Thanks to the Ambani family for hosting me in Mumbai for the opening weekend of @nmacc.india.” “It was a privilege to be present as your family’s vision for a world-class cultural center to celebrate and cultivate the creatives and heritage of India came to fruition.
This venue will encourage future generations to pursue their interests in dance, design, music, and art. If you have the opportunity to see these performances, I strongly urge you to do so.”
The first exhibition at the center, India in Fashion: The Influence of Indian Dress and Textiles on the Fashionable Imagination, is curated by the renowned fashion journalist, costume expert, and global editor of Vogue magazine, Hamish Bowles.
It honors Indian handiwork and its influence on international fashion.
On Friday, Hadid donned a custom-made, hand-embroidered trench coat with matching pants. The springtime in the picturesque Himachal region of northern India inspired the embroidery, according to designer Rahul Mishra.
Hadid wore a sari by Indian designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, who are also featured in NMACC’s inaugural exhibition, to the gala on Saturday.
Hadid described the elaborately embellished gold and ivory sari as “remarkable craftsmanship.”
“This Chikankari sari was created in the Lucknow region of India over the course of a year; each of the women who worked on it specializes in a distinct stitch. I’ll never forget it,” she said.
Hadid also posted photos of herself with Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Social media videos also showed her momentarily dancing on stage with actor Varun Dhawan.
Last month, in an interview with The National, Nita Ambani described the centre as “the realization of my lifelong dream.”

“NMACC has been a labor of love and dedication for my family and me, a manifestation of our deep-seated pride as Indians and arts supporters,” she said.
