The BJP increased its attacks on Mr. Gandhi, alleging that the Congress was attempting to portray him as a victim for electoral gain.”I have been disqualified because the Prime Minister fears my upcoming speech,” I observed dread within his eyes. “That’s why they don’t want me to speak in Parliament,” explained the leader of the Congress.

In response to the BJP’s requests for an apology, he stated, “My name is not Savarkar. I am a Gandhi. I won’t apologise.”In addition, he denied the BJP’s allegations that he had sought the intervention of international forces in domestic affairs. He stated that he had asked the Speaker for permission to address the allegations regarding his London remarks on the House floor.

“BJP leaders have asserted that I aid anti-India forces. I informed the Speaker of my right to respond to the allegations. “However, he denied my request,” he said. “I have only one option, and that is to fight for the truth and defend the democratic essence of this nation. Disqualify me for life or imprison me for life, I’ll keep going.”

“Do I appear worried? I’m delighted,” said an undeterred Mr Gandhi. In an immediate response, the BJP reiterated its claim that Mr. Gandhi had insulted Other Backward Communities (OBCs) with his remark about the Modi surname.

“He is not alone; 32 leaders across the country have been disqualified, including six BJP members.” The Congress is attempting to portray Rahul Gandhi as a victim in order to gain electoral support in Karnataka, according to former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Mr. Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, was found guilty of defamation on Thursday by a court in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Modi. The next day after being sentenced to two years in prison, he was disqualified as a member of parliament. He has not yet filed an appeal with a higher court.

The matter arose from a remark allegedly made by Mr. Gandhi at an election rally in 2019 implying that PM Modi is a criminal. “Why do all thieves share the surname Modi?” he had asked in Kolar, Karnataka, causing multiple defamation cases to be lodged against him in various states.
