HTech’s Honor 90 5G smartphone revived the brand in India after a long break. This smartphone costs less Rs 40,000. Recently released Realme, Motorola, and OnePlus devices have increased rivalry in this segment. The Honor 90 5G arrived in emerald green, and here is my initial impression.
Rather than focusing on one area, the Honor 90 5G includes all the desirable specs. This smartphone features a 6.7-inch AMOLED curved-edge floating display, premium design, 200-megapixel rear camera, and 50-megapixel front camera.
The phone has a polycarbonate frame and glass back. Two ring-shaped camera bumps hold all rear sensors. Shiny trim around the hump. The rest of the panel contains dotted patterns that reflect light and provide grip. These dotting patterns greatly reduce fingerprints on the phone.
Honor 90 5G has a glossy frame. Phone power and volume rockers are on the right. One speaker grill, SIM tray, and USB Type-C connector are at the bottom. Top and bottom microphone ports. Honor 90 5G offers a curved display with narrow bezels. The bottom bezel is thicker.
A selfie camera notch is in the top-center of the display. Phone thickness is 7.8mm and weight is 183g. Honor 90 5G has an appealing design that stands out in a crowd of devices.

The Honor 90 5G’s display refreshes 120Hz. This AMOLED panel features 2664×1200 pixels. The phone’s peak HDR brightness is 1,600 nits. HDR10+ and Netflix-certified. HonorTech reports 3,840Hz PWM display dimming on its smartphone. Content looks bright and colorful on the display. Indoors and out, the colors are vivid.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 powers the Honor 90 5G. This chipset is found in some Indian cellphones, including the Motorola Razr 40. This SoC uses an excellent 4nm technology. The processor supports 14 5G bands. Despite utilizing it briefly, this processor was powerful.
I reviewed a machine with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB storage. The phone performed well for social media surfing, streaming, and short-term gaming. HonorTech says the Honor 90 5G uses graphite sheet and AI-based thermal management to prevent overheating during heavy use.
Honor 90 5G sports a 200-MP rear camera. Other cameras include a 12-megapixel ultra-wide and macro and a third depth camera. Major rear camera sensor is 1/1.4-inch. The ultra-wide camera has a 112-degree FOV. The camera app offers HDR, portrait, multi-video, solo cut, and close up. Both the main back camera and 50-megapixel front camera can record 4K 30fps footage.
The main back camera has 10X digital zoom. My initial photos were good. The selfie camera seems better, but we’ll discuss camera performance in the review.
A 5,000mAh battery powers the Honor 90 5G, however the charger is not included. USB Type-A to Type-C is the only cable. Phone battery life was around a day at first.
Android 13-based Magic OS 7.1 powers the Honor 90 5G. The phone has preinstalled apps that could be removed. Other features include RAM Turbo, which may boost the phone’s RAM to 5GB.
