On Friday, a plane was struck by severe turbulence, resulting in the injury and death of a passenger. Five passengers were on board the private Bombardier Challenger 300 that was flying from Keene, New Hampshire, to Leesburg, Virginia, when it crashed. This is according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, according to the Boston Globe. The news source added that at 3.40 p.m., police officers reacted to a medical emergency at the airport and took one traveller to the hospital.
National Transportation Safety Board spokeswoman Sarah Taylor Sulick told the Globe that she did not know what occurred to the traveller or if anyone else was hurt.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft is registered to Conexon, a Missouri corporation. The company’s goal is to bring fast internet access to remote regions. It has remained silent about the event so far.
Live flight tracking service FlightAware reports that the aircraft took off from Keene airport at 3:55 pm and arrived at Bradley airport 20 minutes later.
According to the New York Post, the NTSB has taken the flight’s black box, which contains the cockpit speech and data recordings, to conduct an investigation aboard the plane and conduct interviews with two members of the flight crew and the surviving passengers.
