Arne Espeel, a Belgian goalkeeper, passed away at the age of 25 after collapsing on the field of play only a few seconds after he had saved a penalty kick for an amateur club. The report from The Independent states that the incident took place on Saturday at the venue that Winkel Sport calls home. In order to establish what led to Mr. Espeel’s death, it was planned for an autopsy to be carried out, and it has already been completed.
According to the publication, the well-known footballer was competing for the Belgian football club Winkel Sport B against the club Westrozebeke when his opponents were given a penalty kick in the second half of the game. Winkel Sport B plays in the second provincial division of West Brabant in Belgium. The player, who was 25 years old at the time, stopped the threat, but shortly thereafter, he slumped on the field and fell to the ground.
Although emergency personnel rushed to the scene to assist Mr. Espeel and tried all in their power to preserve his life, the football player was declared dead shortly after being transported to a hospital. It is unknown what caused his passing away.
Winkel Sport released a statement saying that the organisation is “in very profound sadness” due to the unexpected death of Arne Espeel. “We want to extend our deepest sympathies to Arne’s family and friends on the occasion of this tragic loss. The sport of football is really an afterthought “they continued, according to Reuters.

It was claimed that more than a thousand individuals attended the memorial service for Mr. Espeel on Monday. Patrick Rotsaert, the sports director of Winkel, referred to the event as a catastrophe and expressed everyone’s disbelief at its occurrence. “Arne was a lifelong member of the club and had a special place in everyone’s heart. He had such a kind and kind nature, and he was constantly smiling and willing to provide a hand. This is a rather significant hit to the body. First and first for his family, as well as everyone in our club, “Mr Rotsaert stated.
