Meghalaya-Nagaland Elections : Assembly elections in the two northeastern states will continue until 4 p.m. today, and ballots will be counted on March 2.
In the northeastern states of Meghalaya and Nagaland elections are currently underway. The Election Commission and security agencies took all precautions necessary to guarantee a smooth voting process.
Today, voting will continue until 4 p.m. in both states.
More than 1,300,000 eligible voters in Nagaland will determine the fate of 183 candidates in 59 of 60 assembly seats. There will be 2,291 polling stations, 196 of which will be managed by women and 10 by individuals with disabilities.
In Meghalaya, too, 59 out of 60 assembly seats are holding elections. The election in the Sohiong constituency has been delayed due to the passing of one of the candidates.
More than 2,160,000 individuals are eligible to vote. There were a total of 3,419 polling places. As many as 640 polling stations have been deemed “vulnerable” and 323 have been deemed “critical.” There are a total of 369 candidates, including 36 women candidates.

Monday is also the day for assembly by-elections in the states of Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand.
