India amends apple import policy : The central government has prohibited the import of pears with a CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) price of Rs 50 or less per kilogram.
The import policy remains “Free” for pears that cost more than 50 rupees per kilogram.
The amendment to the apple import policy will not apply to India’s neighbor Bhutan, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification issued on Monday.

In its notification, the DGFT did not specify why the change in apple import policy was necessary.
