Nicosia, Agency. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is on his first official visit to Cyprus. During this, he said in the capital Nicosia on Friday that India’s dominance in the global economy is increasing. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said this at a business event in Nicosia. He said the economically-driven trade policies and reforms of the Modi government contributed to India becoming one of the strongest destinations for foreign direct investment.
India has to be made a manufacturing hub
S Jaishankar said that our goal is to make India a major manufacturing hub and emerge as a $ 5 trillion economy by the year 2025. Meanwhile, S Jaishankar also mentioned the global corona pandemic. He said that during the Corona epidemic, we were one of the largest global centers in the manufacture of the vaccine. We supplied vaccine to 100 countries. He said that the motto of India G-20 is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam i.e. the world is one family and we have brought it into practice during the pandemic.
Appetite to invest in India
At the business event, S Jaishankar said that the technological and infrastructural progress that India has made in the last few years has created more appetite in the world to invest in India. At the same time, he said that we have also increased our capabilities in relation to trade and other economic activities. The External Affairs Minister pointed out that India has made good use of the time of the Corona pandemic to carry out very ambitious economic reforms. Jaishankar also drew attention to the successes of the Productive Linked Incentive (PLI) programme, whose main objective is to increase production capacity in India.
Jaishankar visited Konark Wheel
EAM also visited the Konark Wheel during his visit to Cyprus. Cypriot Foreign Minister, Finance Minister and Home Minister were present on this occasion. S Jaishankar tweeted the picture and informed about it. The Konark Wheel is considered a symbol of the strong friendship between the two countries. India and Cyprus are currently celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations. The Konark Wheel was gifted to Cyprus by India in 2017. The two countries also released commemorative postage stamps on 29 December to mark 75 years of India’s independence and 60 years of establishment of diplomatic relations.
