A bigger national flag than its predecessors has been raised atop the building of the Indian High Commission in London

London: In response to protests by Khalistani supporters, a bigger national flag than its predecessors has been raised atop the building of the Indian High Commission in London. Monday, in an elaborate response to demonstrators, the embassy raised a slightly smaller flag on the building after Khalistani supporters tore down the Indian flag in front of the embassy.
Today, as more than 2,000 Khalistani supporters gathered in front of the building and threw ink, water bottles, and powdered pigments at the police, the Indian embassy draped the national flag across the building.

Approximately a dozen embassy personnel are depicted on the terrace brandishing a long tricolour as if in a human chain.

In contrast to the tumultuous scenes on Sunday, Khalistani supporters were barricaded across the road, with police officers on security and patrolling the area.

The increased security in London followed the removal of traffic barricades in front of the British High Commission in Delhi, which was interpreted by some as an indication of India’s displeasure with the breach in London. The police explained the action as the removal of barricades that “created obstacles” for commuters.

The London Metropolitan Police have taken no chances in response to India’s protests, parking more than 20 vehicles near India House and deploying mounted forces to patrol the streets.
