ISRO Launches Rocket With UK Firm’s 36 Satellites From Sriharikota

The success of the commercial launch will position ISRO as a viable service provider for companies trying to launch their satellites.

This morning, the Indian space agency launched a rocket transporting 36 satellites from the Sriharikota spaceport in the vicinity of Chennai. As part of the OneWeb India-2 mission, the Launch Vehicle Mark-III rocket launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

The UK-based OneWeb group’s satellites will be deployed in low earth orbit later this year to assist in the launch of global services.”We have launched! Thanks to our colleagues at @isro and @NSIL_India for a successful launch,” tweeted OneWeb, a global communication network that facilitates government and business connectivity.

ISRO will become a viable service provider for businesses seeking to launch satellites if the commercial launch is successful.This is ISRO’s second rocket launch of the year. With this launch, 616 of OneWeb’s satellites will be in orbit.

OneWeb had previously stated, “This mission marks OneWeb’s second satellite deployment from India, highlighting the collaboration between the British and Indian space industries.”ISRO had launched 36 OneWeb satellites in the first deployment on October 23, 2022.
