Agni-5 Missile: India had recently tested the Agni-5 nuclear ballistic missile with the longest range firepower. Now a big update has come regarding this that its weight has been reduced and its firepower has also increased. Earlier its firepower was 5 thousand kilometers, which has now increased to 7 thousand kilometers. At the same time, its weight has been reduced by 20 percent.
According to the news published in India Today, defense sources have told that the Defense Research and Development Organization ie DRDO has replaced the steel in the missile with composite material. Due to this the weight of the missile has now reduced by 20 percent. Along with this, it has also been told that if the government wants, its firepower can be extended beyond 7 thousand kilometers.
The government wanted to increase its firepower
According to India Today, the government wanted to increase the range of the Agni-5 missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons. For this, DRDO started working on it again and its range has been increased to a range of more than 7 thousand kilometers. Now this missile is capable of achieving the stated range. It is expected that the same will be done with the rest of the Agni series missiles.
Sources gave the example of Agni-3, which weighs about 40 tonnes and can hit targets 3,000 kilometers away, but Agni-4, which weighs a little over 20 tonnes, can cover much longer distances. The extended range of the missile, which is part of the Strategic Forces Command, will give planners a variety of options in times of conflict. India’s nuclear weapons program is primarily for deterrence against its adversaries including China and Pakistan because of its no-first-use policy.
India is strengthening its firepower
India is strengthening its second strike capability and is working on the development of submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Sources said that the decision to test the missile for the new maximum possible range is to be taken by the government. India on Thursday successfully conducted the night test of Agni-5 missile with a full range of 5,400 km. The test was conducted to validate new technologies and equipment on the missile which is now lighter than before.
