The first trailer for the upcoming rom-com Shotgun Wedding on Prime Video gave the genre a whole new look. Shotgun Wedding is maybe better described as a “romantic action comedy.” Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel play a couple who are getting ready for their destination wedding when all the guests are taken hostage by pirates and things get violent. Now, Collider is excited to show an exclusive new behind-the-scenes featurette that gives viewers a closer look at the high-octane, explosive stunts that make this a wedding day to remember.
In the featurette, Lopez and Duhamel, who are both known for their roles in action and romance movies, talk about how the mix of comedy and heart-pounding action made them want to work on the project. They also talk about how they had to trust each other while filming action scenes. Probably necessary when you spend most of the movie being zip-tied together.
During the featurette, we also get a closer look at the different stunts the couple does as they run through the jungle and away from the gun-toting pirates while wearing only their wedding clothes. Lopez’s experience as a dancer came in handy, says director Jason Moore, because many of the action scenes needed precise choreography. Lopez, on the other hand, had nothing but good things to say about Moore. She said that she and Duhamel felt safe during their more dangerous stunts, like when they were high in the air on the zipline.
