Former India cricketer Praveen Kumar and his son survive car accident

The crowd soon gathered at the spot after the collision, and it was they who managed to apprehend the alleged driver.

Praveen Kumar, a former cricketer for India, was involved in an accident on the evening of Tuesday, July 4, in Meerut. The former pacer was attacked by a canter traveling at a high speed near the bungalow of the commissioner of Meerut. When the local police arrived, they took custody of the accused driver’s vehicle.

After the collision, the crowd quickly congregated at the scene, and they were able to apprehend the alleged driver. After receiving the information, the Civil Line police station arrived on scene. When the incident occurred, the former fast bowler was driving his Land Rover and returning from Pandav Nagar. Fortunately, he and his son were unharmed, and the canter driver was taken into custody as the authorities arrived.

Notably, this is not the first disaster that Praveen has experienced. Praveen injured himself when he tumbled out of his open Jeep during his 2007 homecoming celebration in Meerut. Fortunately, Praveen was not injured when his SUV collided with the lorry this time.

It could have been considerably worse. By the grace of God, we are all right, and I am speaking with you. At approximately 9:30 p.m., a massive vehicle struck my car from behind as I drove to drop off my nephew. If it had been a smaller vehicle, there could have been injuries. Praveen was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying, “At first, I believed only the bumper would be broken, but the car is severely damaged.”

Praveen, now 36 years old, participated in six Tests, 68 ODIs, and ten T20Is between 2007 and 2012, taking 27, 77, and eight wickets in those formats, respectively. In October of 2018, he announced his retirement at the age of 32. He was instrumental in India’s victory over Sri Lanka in the 2008 ODI tri-series held in Australia.

He took four wickets, dismissing prominent players such as Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist, enabling India to defend their total and win the series.
