The 32-year-old woman who was allegedly murdered by her live-in companion in a Mumbai suburb was raised in an Ahmednagar orphanage. Saraswati Vaidya lived with Manoj Sane, 56, for nine years, but told the orphanage she was residing in Mumbai with her maternal uncle, according to NDTV.
According to a Jankibai Apte Balikashram employee in Ahmednagar, Vaidya claimed that her uncle was exceedingly wealthy and owned textile mills.
“She informed us that her uncle resides in Mumbai, where I also reside. Anu Salve, an employee at the orphanage, told NDTV: “She said that the man owns textile mills and is extremely wealthy.”
Salve reported that Vaidya appeared discontent during her last visit to the orphanage two years ago.

In 2014, Vaidya met Manoj Sane at the ration shop where he worked while residing in Borivali. They were both members of the same community and were unattached. They began to meet frequently. Vaidya, a high school reject with limited employment prospects, became increasingly reliant on Sane. Three years ago, the couple relocated into the Mira Road apartment together.
Sane was arrested after the body parts of Vaidya were discovered in a flat in the Thane district of Maharashtra. He allegedly murdered Vaidya and then used an electric saw to dismember her corpse. In a desperate attempt to elude capture, Sane pressure-cooked some body parts, roasted others, and ground others before feeding them to stray dogs.

Police have received contradictory statements from the accused. He initially claimed that his partner committed suicide by ingesting poison on June 4, and he attempted to dispose of the corpse out of fear of being charged with complicity.
Later, he stated that they had fought because he suspected Vaidya of having affairs.
The body parts recovered from the residence have been transported to JJ Hospital for postmortem examination. “We have doubts about his suicide claim,” police stated.
