IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, has received its second B-777 aircraft on wet lease and will commence operations on the Mumbai-Istanbul route on May 17, the company announced.

The Boeing 777 aircraft has a seating capacity of 400 passengers, with 24 business class seats and 376 economy class seats. Since February 1, this year, IndiGo has been operating its first wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft on the Delhi-Istanbul route.

These aircraft have been introduced to accommodate India’s increasing demand for international travel.

IndiGo’s Chief Executive Officer, Pieter Elbers, stated, “We are delighted to welcome our second Boeing 777 aircraft on wet lease, which will operate between Mumbai and Istanbul. Through this inclusion, we are delivering on our promise to offer more travel options between India and Europe during the summer.”

“Istanbul is a hub connecting 33 European destinations through our codeshare connectivity.” The new aircraft will not only enhance the route’s capacity, but also help keep the fares affordable. Pieter added, “We are continually reassuring our customers by delivering on our commitment to be on-time, reasonably priced, courteous, and to provide hassle-free connectivity across an unmatched network.”

Through this addition, we are implementing our strategy and delivering on our promise to offer more travel options between India and Europe this summer, he explained.
