Mexican Senate president ties Rakhi to PM Modi during P20 summit

At the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit in New Delhi on Friday, Mexican Senate president Ana Lilia Rivera gave PM Modi a rakhi. An endearing act.

Ana Lilia Rivera, president of the Mexican Senate, presented PM Narendra Modi with a rakhi (a sacred thread) on Friday, on the margins of the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit in New Delhi. This was an endearing gesture.

Rivera is observed in a video published by the news agency ANI adorning the wrist of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a red and yellow rakhi. She was being instructed by an individual standing nearby on how to bind the rakhi. PM Modi bestowed his blessings upon Rivera by placing his hand on her head subsequent to her tying the rakhi. Rivera graciously accepted these blessings by raising both palms above her heart.

As per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), diplomatic relations between India and Mexico have been consistently amicable, cordial, and friendly. Large emerging economies with comparable socioeconomic development constraints and priorities, democratic, secular, and pluralistic systems, and converging worldviews characterize both nations.

Prime Minister Modi commenced the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit, colloquially known as P20, earlier today at the Yashobhoomi convention centre in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Modi compared the summit to a “Mahakumbh” of parliamentary practices, stating that legislative bodies are crucial locations for deliberation and debate.

“This summit merits the name’mahakumbh’ due to the fact that it symbolizes the convergence of parliamentary practices from around the globe.” India successfully hosted the G20 Summit and accomplished lunar landing. We are the hosts of the P20 Summit today. “This summit is also an opportunity to honor the strength of the Indian people, who represent the largest democracy in the world,” he added.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of combating terrorism. The prime minister emphasized that India has been confronted with transnational terrorism for decades, stating, “India has been confronted with transnational terrorism for many years. Approximately two decades ago, militants launched an attack on our Parliament during a session. “World parliaments and their representatives must consider how to collaborate in the fight against terrorism.”
