External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar rides a ‘Made in India’ train in the capital of Mozambique, Maputo, on Thursday, accompanied by the Mozambican Minister of Transport.

Jaishankar thanked Rahul Mithal, the Chief Managing Director of Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES), for accompanying them on their voyage.

Jaishankar shared his experience of rides on Twitter: “Took a ‘Made in India’ train from Maputo to Machava with Mozambican Transport Minister Mateus Magala. Thank you for attending us, CMD RITES Rahul Mithal.”

Along with Mozambican Transport Minister Mateus Magala, the Minister of Foreign Affairs held a press conference on the moving train.

“A novel experience: conducting a Press Conference on a moving train,” tweeted Jaishankar.

Jaishankar visited a temple in Maputo and interacted with the Indian community there during his trip to Mozambique.

“This evening, I prayed at the Shree Vishvambhar Mahadev Mandir in Maputo. So happy to engage with the Indian community there,” the EAM tweeted.

At the reception hosted by the High Commissioner in Maputo on Thursday evening, Jaishankar emphasized the significance of the time-honored and historically significant relationship between the two nations, which is expanding.

During a press conference in Maputo on Thursday, the EAM recalled Mozambique Assembly Speaker Esperanca Bias’ visit to India the previous year. He stated that the two “discussed their political and economic cooperation.” She encouraged me to increase the scope of our bilateral partnership. This will be my focus over the next two days.”

Regular parliamentary exchanges are crucial for India and Mozambique, according to Jaishankar, who stated that he would commence his visit at the National Assembly.

“This is a great start to the visit, and I’m sure there will be many more important discussions over the next few days,” he said.

When asked if BRICS is considering trading in its own currencies, the EAM responded, “Trade settlement is a topic of discussion among various nations.” We do not discuss this matter within the BRICS. Different nations take varying positions on this issue.”

Thursday, Jaishankar arrived in Maputo, Mozambique. He received an enthusiastic Mozambican welcome.

Mozambique is a southeastern African nation.

“I arrived in Maputo to a spirited Mozambican greeting. “Thank Deputy Foreign Minister Manuel Jose Goncalves for the warm reception,” tweeted Jaishankar on Thursday.
