New 7.5-magnitude earthquake strikes southeast Turkey: Turkey earthquake live updates

Turkey earthquake struck close to the Turkish city of Gaziantep, at least 912 people died in Turkey, while more than 500 people died .

Early on Monday, Turkey earthquake and Syria were hit by the strongest earthquake in in a century, which killed over 1,200 people while they slept, destroyed houses, and sent shocks as far away as Iraq. Major Turkish cities were completely destroyed by the 7.8-magnitude Turkey earthquake, which occurred in a volatile area where millions of refugees had fled the Syrian Civil War and other crises.

According to Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, there were at least 20 aftershocks, and he advised residents against going into damaged structures because of the dangers. Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, and Lebanon all experienced tremors.

Turkey earthquake shook its northern neighbour and Syria early on Monday, Iraqi Kurdistan announced it was suspending oil exports through Turkey as a precaution.

In response to the terrible earthquake that struck Turkey on Sunday and also left hundreds dead in nearby Syria, Ukraine declared on Monday that it was prepared to send emergency rescuers there.

“Ukraine is prepared to dispatch a sizable contingent of rescuers to Turkey to help with crisis response. To organise their deployment, we are collaborating closely with the Turkish side, said Dmytro Kuleba, the foreign minister of Ukraine.

The U.S. Geological Survey said that a 7.5-magnitude earthquake rocked southeast Turkey on Monday afternoon, just hours after another earthquake there claimed more than 1,200 lives.

The shallow Turkey earthquake occurred four kilometres (2.5 miles) south-southeast of the town of Ekinozu around 1:24 pm (1024 GMT).

The death toll from the  Turkey earthquake has been increased by the Turkish president to 912, totaling more than 1,300 deaths between Turkey and Syria.

Following the Turkey earthquake on Monday that left hundreds dead, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his country was getting ready to deploy medical and rescue aid.
