According to statements made by the Mumbai police on Friday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) office in Mumbai got an email on Thursday with a threat that a person with ties to the Taliban will carry out a “attack” in Mumbai.Following the receipt of the mail, the city police and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) were notified, according to an official.
The email address that was used to send the threat message contained the word “CIA,” and the sender allegedly claimed that a person connected with the Taliban would carry out an attack in the city. The information provided by the police can be found here.
The NIA official said that Pakistan was identified as the location of the sender based on the IP (internet protocol) address.The federal agency received correspondence very similar to this one one month ago as well.

According to him, the investigation that the police carried out did not turn up any concrete evidence.
According to the official, the investigation agency has also received mails of this nature in the past, which leads the police to believe that this may be an act of mischief.
