Odisha Train Accident: At least 233 people were murdered and over 900 were injured when three trains collided one after the other in the Balasore district of Odisha, triggering a massive rescue and evacuation operation. Friday evening at approximately 7:00 p.m., a train derailed near the Bahanaga Baazar station in Balasore district, approximately 250 kilometers south of Kolkata and 170 kilometers north of Bhubaneswar, prompting the Railway Ministry to commission an investigation. In response to the Coromandel Express disaster, Odisha’s chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, has mobilized all available resources for search and rescue operations.

The Indian Army has been dispatched to aid in the evacuation and care of injured citizens. The Eastern Command has dispatched medical and engineering teams equipped with ambulances and support services. The teams have been dispatched from multiple bases in order to reach the incident site as quickly as feasible.
