Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar meets with his West Bengal counterpart, Mamata Banerjee, in Kolkata. Nitish Kumar has undertaken the task of uniting opposition forces against the BJP-led central government.
The encounter will immediately follow his trip to the nation’s capital to meet with Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and former member of parliament Rahul Gandhi. The meeting was viewed as the most significant step in establishing the groundwork for an Opposition alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year.
Rahul told reporters after the meeting that it was a “historic step” toward opposition unity and a “battle of ideas.”
Rahul, who uploaded a photo of himself with Kharge and the leaders of the JDU and RJD, stated that they are “standing together and will fight together for India.”
“In this battle of ideologies, an important step towards opposition unity has been taken today.” (We) stand united and will fight together for India!” After meeting with Nitish Kumar, Rahul Gandhi stated in a tweet.
Tejashwi Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, and Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, President of the Janata Dal-United, were also present at the meeting conducted at the residence of Kharge.

Last month, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at her residence in Kolkata as part of her efforts to close ranks with other parties ahead of the 2024 elections.
