On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India would put in a bid to host the Olympics in 2036. The statement was made by PM Modi at the start of the 141st session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.
“India is very excited to organise an Olympics,” he stated. We will do everything we can to make sure the 2036 Olympics happen in India. It’s what 140 crore Indians want. We would like to make this dream come true with the IOC’s help. Sports aren’t just a way to get awards; they’re also the best way to win people over. It not only makes winners, but it also works for peace.
He also said that India would be happy to hold the Youth Olympics in 2029. In front of IOC president Thomas Bach, he said, “We are willing to host the 2029 Youth Olympics. I am sure India will get constant support from IOC.”
India is holding the IOC meeting for the second time, 40 years after the last time. In 1983, the 86th meeting of the IOC took place in New Delhi.
In his earlier evening speech, IOC president Thomas Bach began by thanking the crowd with “namaste.” He then told the Indian PM, “aapka bahut-bahut swagat hai,” which means “we welcome you,” and added that the country has been doing well in both sports and the economy.
Bach said, “India is a beautiful place.” India’s Olympic group can be proud of how well they did at the Asian Games. In his speech, the IOC president talked about how important it was to include e-sports in the Olympics and how important it was to believe young people’s ideas and give them power.
Bach spoke to the press on Friday and said that cricket would be added to the 2028 Olympics because it is becoming more famous around the world. Bach also said that the Cricket World Cup being held in India right now is going well.
“The world is becoming more interested in cricket, and right now the Cricket World Cup is going well in India.” Because of this, we’re excited for cricket players to take part in the 2028 Olympics. A lot of people with Indian roots play cricket, and we just recently put together an event in Dallas for the same reason. “The same thing could happen in Los Angeles, and they planned for it to happen,” Bach said.
