The media that Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed on Friday that Russia has moved its first nuclear weapons to Belarus.
Putin stated at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg that the remaining nuclear weapons would be delivered by the end of summer.
As part of the plan to deploy tactical nuclear bombs in the country bordering Ukraine, Russia proceeds forward with the plan. In response to a query about the use of nuclear weapons in conflict, he stated, “This is a deterrence measure against all those who consider Russia’s strategic defeat.”
The Russian leader’s remarks follow Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s claims this week that his country received the initial shipment of “bombs and missiles from Russia,” as refuted by The Hill.
Media that Lukashenko told Russian and Belarusian state media, “We have received missiles and bombs from Russia,” adding, “The bombs are three times more powerful than those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”
Media reported that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko proclaimed that Russia has begun delivering nuclear weapons to Belarus, including some reportedly three times more powerful than those detonated over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
This is the first time Russia has transferred tactical nuclear warheads since beginning its invasion of Ukraine last year. The arrival of the weaponry occurs one week after Ukrainian forces launched a massive counteroffensive against Russia. According to media, Lukashenko argues that the weapons will function only as a deterrent.
